Academic Calendar

Below is the School of Medicine calendar for the 2009 academic year. It is important to note that the courses at Unibe Costa Rica are based on 16-week terms (or 4 month periods) with a two-week break after every term. This allows three terms in a calendar year, which are:

I. January-April,
II. May- August, and
III. September-December.

For students who have financial aid, an academic year consists of two of the 16-week terms. For example, if a student starts school on May 2009, his/her academic year will conclude on December 2009.

A printed version of the academic calendar is given to students during the orientation session, which take place a week prior to the beginning of class.
